APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM MERITORIOUS SPORTSPERSONS IN THE
DISCIPLINES OF VOLLEYBALL (04), BASKETBALL (02), CRICKET (01),
ATHLETICS (02), BADMINTON (01), LAWN TENNIS (01), TABLE TENNIS (01), AIR
RIFLE / PISTOL SHOOTING (01) AND FOOTBALL (01) FOR APPOINTMENT IN THE
CADRES OF TAX ASSISTANT (13 POSTS) AND STENOGRAPHER GRADE-III (01
POST) BOTH IN THE PAY SCALE OF Rs.5200-20200 + GRADE PAY Rs.2400 AS PER CCS
(REVISED PAY) RULES, 2008 IN THE CUSTOMS, CENTRAL EXCISE & SERVICE
TAX DEPARTMENT, HYDERABAD & VIZAG ZONES. .
NOTE:- Discipline-wise posts indicated above in the brackets ( ) is subject to change if suitable
Sportsperson is not available in any discipline or an exceptionally meritorious Sportsperson is
available in any discipline.
The following categories of sportspersons will be considered as meritorious and will be
eligible for appointment subject to fulfillment of other conditions laid down below:
(I) Sportspersons who have represented -
(i) A state or the country in a national or international competition.
(ii) Their universities in the inter-university tournaments conducted by the inter-university
Sports Board.
(iii) The State school teams in the national sports/games for schools conducted by the All
India School Games Federation.
(II) Awardees of National Awards in physical efficiency under the national physical
efficiency drive.
Sportspersons, who claim to belong to any of the categories mentioned above, should
produce a certificate in the prescribed form No. 1 to 5 specified in Annexure A and duly signed
by the appropriate authorities as specified in Annexure-B. Departmental candidates should route
their applications through proper channel.
1. TAX ASSISTANT.
(The post is temporary but likely to be made permanent)
(i) Qualifications:
1. Minimum educational qualification of Graduation in any discipline from any
recognized University.

2. Should possess a Data Entry Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour.
(The candidates should furnish certificates to this effect from Government recognized
institutes. If necessary candidates may be required to appear for Skill Test.)
(ii) Age :
20-27 years. The crucial date for determining the age shall be 01.01.2009.
Age Relaxation:
Either
(i) relaxable upto 35 years for Govt.servants.
or
(ii) Exceptionally meritorious Sports persons may be allowed relaxation in upper age
limit by 05 years (10 years for SC/ST).
(iii) Probation Period: 2 years.
2. STENOGRAPHER GRADE-III
(The post is temporary but likely to be made permanent)
(i) Qualifications:
1. Matriculation or equivalent, and
2. Speed of 80 words per minute in Shorthand (English or Hindi).
(The candidates should furnish certificates to this effect from Government recognized
institutes. If necessary candidates may be required to appear for Skill Test.)
(ii) Age :
18 to 27 years. The crucial date for determining the age shall be 01.01.2009.
Age Relaxation:
Either
(i) relaxable upto 40 years for Govt.servants.
or
(ii) Exceptionally meritorious Sports persons may be allowed relaxation in upper age
limit by 05 years (10 years for SC/ST).
(iii) Probation Period: 2 years.
3. LAST DATE:
The last date for receipt of applications in this office is one month from the date of
publication of the Notification in the “Employment News”. Applications found incomplete will
not be entertained. Any application received after due date is liable to be rejected.
4. Tests :
The candidates will have to appear in the practical / field tests relevant to sports
discipline. All eligible sports persons may be called for a written test on the pattern similar to
the exams conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for Tax Assistant and Stenographer
Grade-III posts. The Written Tests will be of qualifying nature and consists of following papers
